ebury beach day 6013

Beach at the Bridge proves a big hit!

Ebury Bridge’s first ever pop-up beach welcomed over 500 visitors from across the estate and south Westminster for some fun in the sun.

Organised by the Community Engagement Team and Westminster Housing Services, the Ebury Bridge Estate was transformed to feature all the trimmings of a traditional day at the seaside, including donkey rides, fish and chips and a temporary beach on the estate’s football pitch!

But that wasn’t all; the Westminster on Wheels (WOW) bus was on hand to help residents with any housing queries on the Tuesday, the local Metropolitan Police and Fire Brigade ran community activities and residents were able to get a sneak preview at a possible floorplan for their new homes with architects A-Studio.

Across two days the estate hosted activities for people of all ages, with a graffiti painting workshop, Bollywood dancing, a henna studio and a relaxation area – complete with masseur!

Cllr Rachael Robathan, Westminster City Council cabinet member for finance, property and regeneration, said: “It was great to see so many people enjoying our August beach days at Ebury Bridge, we were all very grateful for the wonderful weather. “There is a really strong community at Ebury, which we are committed to keeping together. Innovative events like this one really help us to do that.”
